산상설교 영어성경 해설 및 강해를 시작하며

영어교실 강의 대신에, 영어성경 해설 강의를 연재합니다.
영어성경은 ESV, English Standard Version을 사용합니다. ESV는 현재 미국인 크리스챤들 사이에 가장 큰 사랑을 받는 성경 번역본 중에 하나입니다. 필자도 미국에서 성경을 공부하기 시작할 때 이 번역본을 추천받아 사용하기 시작해서, 이 번역본을 주로 사용해 오고 있습니다.
특히, 영어로 성경을 공부하거나, 성경으로 영어를 공부하는 분들에게 이 번역본을 권하는 이유는, 영어적으로는 매우 매끄러운 현대적인 문장들이고, 성경적으로는 원어를, 제 소견으로는, 가장 적합하게 번역했기 때문입니다. 물론 다른 영어 번역본들이 성경을 공부하거나 영어를 공부하는 데 부족하다는 말은 아닙니다. 어느 정도 이상의 기준에 맞는 번역본들 중에서, 사용할 번역본을 선택하는 것은 순전히 각자의 선택의 문제입니다. 성경학자들이 인정하는 어떤 영어 번역본도 부족하지 않음을 말씀드립니다.
