MISSIONARY

A.     Commitment

1.     God called me by the gospel, led me to the United States, educated me at schools, and trained me in the ministry for the past 20 years.

2.     The opportunity for ministry is limited in the United States by linguistic and cultural barriers.

3.     I asked myself: “What work would God want me to do most? Why would He have called me and equipped me with precious knowledge and skills?”

4.     I am convinced that God has called me to return to Korea for mission work.

“I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

B.     Compassion

1.     My wife, Yun-Sook, and I have our family members, relatives, and friends in Korea, most of whom are not Christians.

2.     I baptized my mother (who is 90 years old this year) in 2010, and in 2023, my son, during a mission trip, baptized a close friend of mine. Yet neither of them has had in-person fellowship with the Lord’s Body since their baptism.

3.     Though there are many “churches” around them, there is no Church of Christ within a two-hour drive.

4.     They, too, are people whom God loves and for whom Christ died. Would God have us withhold the love and service of the Lord’s Body from them?

“Should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle” (Jonah 4:11)?

C.     Competence

1.     God has equipped me with knowledge of the gospel, His Word, and the skills to share them.

2.     We have had a direct encounter with the Lord’s Body and a firsthand experience of its life.

3.     Yun-Sook and I are native Koreans, born and raised in Korea, and native Korean speakers.

4.     Together, we carry the gospel, having walked with the Lord’s church and served faithfully in ministry through the years.

“When they heard that he was addressing them in the Hebrew language, they became even quieter” (Acts 22:2).
